My two favourite aspects of textile design have always been texture and colour, which I incorporate into my designs through a mixture of photography, hand printing and drawing. By bringing these elements together with computer-aided-design, my aim is to create an interesting surface pattern with depth and detail, sometimes featuring familiar objects or images which at first might not be obvious. I usually design with an intended end-use for wallpaper or interior fabrics, and always enjoy the satisfaction of seeing my final pieces printed. I try to strike a balance in my work so that my designs are original and not overly conventional, whilst also remaining appealing and potentially commercially viable. My immediate plans are to gain experience within the textile design industry and to also continue working as part of the art direction team for Lippy magazine.
