I enjoy creating work which explores contrasting structure with the fluidity of movement. Taking inspiration from a wealth of natural imagery available, I began studying cross sections of fossils and agate, fascinated by the organic shapes and pattern within the hard surfaces. Pattern, colour and texture have been the key sources of inspiration and interest which form the basis of all my work. Using knit has provided the means to accomplish outcomes and effects which are unparalleled using any other medium. By a simple change of yarn, contrasts and subtle changes in texture can be created or dramatic three dimensional pieces can be formed. Having always been fascinated by fashion my fabrics have ultimately been intended for this market. Furthermore I also enjoy creating my own digital prints, which provides the opportunity to work with pattern and colour in a very two dimensional way in contrast to the three dimensional qualities of knit.
