My work considers the relationship between interior and exterior. In particular I have been influenced by the work of Scottish artist Anya Gallaccio and the decorative quilts of Jane Burch Chochran, as well as both Anish Kapoor and Yayoi Kusama’s investigations into reflective surfaces.
The MDF structure acts as a vehicle for a series of architectural found objects, including two window frames retrieved from an old garage, a domestic interior door with exterior furniture and a skylight from a reclamation yard.

The ‘rugs’ are made up of a mixture of buttons and plant materials, suggesting both nature and the home. The word button comes from the French word for bud, providing a presence of interior and exterior.

The polished steel contained within the structure provides a surface on which the ‘rugs’ are reflected, transferring them into their traditional places, on the floor and the wall.

After attending a jewellery course, I’m very interested in pursuing jewellery.
