My practice is a consideration of the varying states in which energy exists. Taking inspiration from the Italian Arte Povera movement, the materiality of my work is the primary vehicle for the expression of it’s meaning. I have employed everyday materials including electrical tape, tree branches and gelatin to express different states of energy. Through their transformation into art objects, the forms and properties of these materials take on new conceptual meaning. For instance in my gelatin piece the substance represents a mass of resting water in a state between static and moveable, speaking of an unleashed potential energy.
