My practice investigates architecture and urban space through a lens based exploration of surface and texture. The impact the elements of a city have on society is a key focus within this investigation; paying particular attention to psychogeography – the modern study of exploring the behavioral impact of urban place, and historically an ideology examined through writers as an act of urban wandering.

Within this project two specific buildings were chosen for their architectural and historical interest in aim to examine urban space through the surfaces that capsulate the history of the structure. In order to gain a thorough insight the buildings were site specific in separate locations, the first, Armley Mills, Leeds, and the second Wapping Hydraulic Power Station, East London. The resulting exploration is documented in a series of artist’s books, each focusing on a different aspect of surface within the buildings.
